Scores of Assyrian Christian families return to Mosul

“Scores of Christian families returned to Mosul to take part in the elections,” the media department of the Nineveh council said in a statement on Tuesday. “Nineveh witnessed the return of more than 30 Christian families, which took part in the elections, while the province witnessed on Monday (March 08) the return of scores of Christian families to their houses,” it added. Mosul witnessed two weeks ago the displacement of Christian families from their houses after the assassination of ten Christians in ten days.
The majority of Iraq’s Christians, are Assyrians, affiliated with different Churches and since the U.S. led invasion in March 2003, they have been subjected to severe acts of violence and as they form the weakest link in the Iraqi mosaic, they've been continuously ignored and marginalized by the local and foreign authorities which are governing Iraq at present in addition to being obscured by the media.
