A 03rd century A.D. stone bench found in the Assyrian town of Aqra

The Department of Antiquities in the Aqra district province of Assyrian Nohadra (Dohuk) found a stone bench dating back to the 03rd century A.D. Omar Hussein, the Director of the Department of Antiquities in the district said that the bench is around 1.5 meters in length and 15 cm in width engraved with the sign of the Cross in three places with a clear place for the Holy Book. Hussein indicated that this discovery is an evidence on the presence of Aqra since ancient times. The stone bench was transferred to the district's Department of Archaeology, it is also noted that Aqra has 15 Churches with the most ancient being the Church of the Virgin Mary dating back to the 02nd century A.D.
