Baghdad - 24-08-2010
The Iraqi National Alliance (INA) will choose only one nominee for the position of Iraq’s new prime minister, to compete with Nouri al-Maliki who is the nominee of the Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance, said Bahaa al-Aaraji a leading Sadrist figure of the INA. “The two nominees will be voted on inside the National Coalition (INA + Dawlat al-Qanoon),” al-Aaraji said on Tuesday. He noted that new mechanisms will be put i place to arrange the voting process. “Among the proposed options is that a nominee should get 80 percent of the votes to become the coalition’s candidate for the premiership position,” al-Aaraji added.
