Cape Cod Shark Sightings Scare BeachgoersA slew of
great white shark sightings over the past few weeks on Cape Cod has scared swimmers in the height of summer vacation time, according to Reuters.
"Swimmers should exercise caution while swimming in Chatham's ocean waters," the harbor master's office said on Chatham's website.
The town "is strongly suggesting that beach-goers and swimmers pay close attention to their surroundings while in the water, and to not venture too far from shore. If a shark is sighted, please get out of the water." Duh.
On Friday, swimmers on Salisbury Beach north of Boston were warned of a possible shark sighting; on Tuesday, a great white shark was tagged off of Cape Cod's Chatham.
On Friday, swimmers at Salisbury Beach north of Boston were ordered to stay close to shore for a few hours after a fisherman reported a possible shark sighting.
"Jaws," the movie that scared us all, was, coincidentally, filmed off of nearby Martha's Vineyard.
